 Job Description

  • Under the supervision of the Coordinator, the incumbent plans and prepare swimming lessons.
  • Perform lifeguard duties.
  • Open and close the aquatic facility. Participate in meetings and in-service training,
    clinics and club events.
  • Track and record the number of badges and books needed for swimming lessons.
  • Prepare and organize the equipment for each class, as required.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants while in the pool facility.
  • Instruct students at their appropriate level in accordance with guidelines set out by Red Cross and Lifesaving Society programs. Conduct/assist with ongoing evaluation and assessment of swimmers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

  • High school diploma AND some experience
  • OR An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience will also be considered
  • ANDCurrent National Lifeguard Service Certificate (NLS) – pool option qualification
  • Current CPR Level C and Standard First Aid qualifications
  • Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification
  • Current Lifesaving Instructor certification, as required
  • Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership (our sharedcompetencies).
