 Job Description

The Tour Manager functions as a member of the Player Relations Department, reporting to the VP, Player Relations The Tour Manager is a representative for the player members of the ATP, with responsibilities at ATP sanctioned tournaments and in the regional offices.
The Tour Manager’s primary roles consist of four pillars: on-site operations, service to the players and tournaments, communication and player education. The Tour Manager also functions in an official capacity, working closely with the ATP Tour Supervisor and tournament director to the efficient operation of the tournament and that players’ needs are addressed.   Underlying each of these responsibilities is the Tour Manager’s ability to communicate effectively with all types of players, tournament staffs, the other members of the Player Relations Department, as well as with all the other departments of the ATP. This position requires extensive travel and is based in Europe.  It may be remote-based or based in our London or Monte Carlo office.

Key Responsibilities:

Communication

  • Coordinate and conduct individual and group player meetings to discuss tournament and ATP issues.
  • Attend General Player and Player Council meetings as requested.
  • Collaborate with members of the Council to ensure proactive communication of all player and ATP issues.
  • Work closely with the VP, Player Relations and other members of the team as well as with the Communications team in the communication and distribution of issues related to meeting materials for Player Council members.
  • Join forces with other members of all departments as a true team player, making sure the ATP management speaks with one voice.
  • Be a constructive source of communication to players and have the ability to be strong advocate of the ATP organization.
  • Inform players about new ATP polices and changes in existing ones.
  • Respond to questions about different issues with regard to ATP membership and its programs.
Service/Administration
  • Take entries and withdrawals from ATP members.
  • Advise in the planning of players' schedule.
  • Provide information about upcoming events.
  • Represent players with respect to rule interpretation and officiating.

Education
  • Educate players on ATP and Grand Slams rules.
  • Educate upcoming players and all player related matters on tour.
  • Educate players on the vision of the company and the Player Relations department.

Official Tournament Duties- Operations 
  • Assist in making daily match schedules and tournament draws.
  • Represent players' interest in the daily order of play.
  • Service ATP player programs.
  • Ensure that players who engage in any ATP player endorsement programs follow the requirements set forth in the contract.
  • Provide entry lists, detail sheets, schedules, Players’ Weekly and all other relevant  information to the players through an “information board” (preferably in the ATP Tour Manager’s office or at the player locker room/lounge).
  • Attend meetings with tournament director and staff as required.
  • Assist with player requests and ongoing issues that arise at a tournament.
Departmental Duties
  • Recruit new player members for Division I, Division II and Registered Player Member Division.
  • Initiate and develop new programs to enhance player membership benefits.
  • Communicate with players to exchange ideas and suggestions on how to improve our services.
  • Track and collect non-membership fees at ATP Tour tournaments.
  • Present and conduct training sessions about Player Relations as required.

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Management.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Extensive tennis knowledge.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work with others.
  • Ability to think creatively, problem solve and formulate new ideas.
  • Team-spirit, ability to work within a team environment.
  • Pro-active and constructive mind-set.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Power Point, Word, Photoshop.
  • Bilingual preferred.
Key Performance Measures:
  • Satisfactory performance review from VP, Player Relations.
  • Positive feedback from players and members both on an informal basis as well as through the performance survey completed by players/members.
  • Positive feedback from supervisors and other key management positions of the ATP.
