 Job DescriptionThe Charlotte Independence and Independence Soccer Club are looking for a Video/Photography Communications Intern to support the Director of Communications. The ideal applicant will be a self-starter, curious about pushing their craft, and be ready to take on new challenges. Positions are less than 30 hours per week, but will depend on the number of hours needed to complete course credit. Work schedules will be set at the beginning of the internship.
This position is ideal for students looking to gain experience in the sports communications, marketing and/or journalism fields via promotion and coverage of the Independence on and off the field. The bulk of the position’s workload will pertain to storytelling via social media content creation and fulfillment of sponsorship inventory, but will also include additional projects, all combining to ensure the selected candidate will walk away at the end of their time with valuable and professional assets for their portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in content capture including interviews, video shoots, photography sessions, and event documentation.
- Shoot action photos of training sessions, games, and other events as needed. Edit photos in Photoshop, Lightroom, and other editing software.
- Assist with Club Media Day including lighting, behind the scenes content, and organization.
- Participate in weekly meetings and brainstorming sessions for creative and engaging content for the fulfillment of Club goals.
- Provide input for, and assistance with, overall look and feel of the brand including interactive and environmental design.
- Pitch and create content — social media, videos, photos, etc.
- Other matchday roles as needed
Qualifications Required
Qualifications Required- Open to college students seeking internships to fulfill class credit requirements
- Experienced in video shooting and editing techniques
- Experience in photography techniques, including lighting and camera positioning among others, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge and abilities in Adobe Creative Cloud – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and AfterEffects.
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism within a professional sports environment and in media work zones.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and complete tasks within deadlines
- Must provide own camera equipment.
- Must have a working knowledge of soccer
- Exceptional writing and editing skills
- Experience with various social media platforms
- Ability to work nights, weekends on an as-needed basis for game days and breaking team-related news
