Job Description
- Lead writer for the Indianapolis Colts and Colts.com
- Provide daily coverage of the Colts’ latest news, including games, practices, press conferences, roster moves, etc.
- Craft engaging longform features on players, coaches and staff
- Provide analysis for Colts’ on-air properties (radio, web/social, TV)
- Maintain team roster, transactions, depth chart and injury report pages on Colts.com
- Help oversee Colts’ freelance/part-time writer(s)
- Provide content for Scout magazine handed out at all Colts home games
- Post team press releases on website as needed
- Provide editing and proofreading support for Colts’ video and social media content
Qualifications Required
- College degree or equivalent experience
- At least 3+ years’ experience in sports reporting/writing/editing, preferably in a professional sports setting
- Engaging personality with considerable on-air experience
- Master of AP style
- Strong knowledge of the Colts franchise — its history, current storylines and fanbase
- Solid news judgment and professionalism to response positively to organizational suggestions
- Ability to manage multiple assignments at once
- Ability to handle situations with tight deadlines
- Experience working within various content management systems (CMS), preferably with some search engine optimization (SEO) knowledge
- The flexibility and willingness to work nights and weeks, and travel
