 Job Description
The Event Manager will be responsible for executing Events and delivery at the Kraken Training Center and throughout the Seattle community. This will include Community Outreach and Fan Development, Corporate Events, meetings, holiday parties, ice rentals, birthdays, fundraisers, speaker series events, Kraken Game Night, restaurant bookings, VIP Tours, and Kraken Partner Events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish the Kraken Training Center as the predominant special events experience in the greater Seattle region
- Field and service inbound sales with a high degree of personal attention
- Work with marketing and communications to generate event opportunities
- Cross-collaborate with internal stakeholders across the Kraken Training Center and partnership
- Plan and execute special events in the community:
- Plan, source locations, identify suppliers, create workback schedules, etc.
- Collaborate with marketing for promotional materials
- Maintain budget and other event related reporting
- Support and develop logistics plans to deliver on community partnership initiatives
- Provide representation at community events to deliver instruction, training and lead activities
- Manage additional street team staff as required
- Plan, support and execute facility activity, programs, parties, corporate and team events, working with internal and external stakeholders, clients and vendors
- Collaborate with Kraken Training Center internal departments to support the business including, but not limited to event services, finance, operations, legal, marketing, premium services, IT, food and beverage and merchandise
- Manage the development of the facility booking confirmation sheet which will be distributed upon confirmation of the event
- Assist with the scheduling of various meetings and additional programming duties for Director of Programming and Events
Qualifications Required
- Experience planning corporate and community events and hospitality programs
- Previous work at a sport facility
- Coordination of youth sport programming and events
- Experience coaching or providing youth activity instruction – specifically floor hockey, ball hockey, ice hockey and skating. Curling and broomball a bonus!
- Knowledge and interest in ice sports, venue and event business
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts
- Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first
- Must be a fierce communicator and cross-organizational collaborator
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- 3 years of event planning and community outreach/instruction experience
- Experience working at a recreational sport facility
- Experience with youth sports at the recreational and elite level
- Understanding of event and on-ice programming
- Bachelor’s degree from a four- year college or university in business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience
- Strong computer skills including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and applicable standard applications
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
- Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs
- Travel into local Seattle-area community on a regular basis
