 Job Description

Physical Literacy & Inclusion Certification

  • Facilitate the building, modification and delivery of the Physical Literacy & Inclusion Certification with members of Abilities Centre’s Sport & Recreation department
  • Work with various stakeholders to build certification content that reflects the diverse needs of the community
  • Provide on-going support to certified teachers, coaches, and community recreation leaders to assist in the continued delivery of inclusive programming
  • Collaborate with Abilities Centre’s Research Department on appropriate impact assessment and evaluation matrices for continued certification improvement

You. Me. We. Virtually Together

  • Manage the development and delivery of the You. Me. We, Virtually Together program within Children’s Hospitals and Children’s Treatment Centres
  • Work collaboratively with Sport & Recreation Coaches to develop program frameworks and curriculum for all preschool, youth, and specialty programs to support the development of physical literacy in all participants
  • Collaborate with Abilities Centre’s Research Department on appropriate impact assessment and evaluation matrices to measure increased in physical literacy for all program participants
  • Manage communication and content development/evaluation with stakeholders from partnering Children’s Hospitals and Children’s Treatment Centres
  • Assist in the delivery of You. Me. We. Virtually Together program instruction as required

Internal Programming

  • Collaborate inter-departmentally to share best practices that ensure the philosophy of physical literacy is embedded across all Abilities Centre programs
  • Work with the Supervisor, Sport & Recreation to ensure that all facility-based and children’s programming is following the best practices established for physical literacy including program content and evaluation and impact, creating a seamless transition across all program offerings

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

  • Graduate of a University or College program in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sport Management or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working with persons with disabilities and/or initiatives/programs that focus on inclusion
  • Experience facilitating training or education for an adult population
  • Strong knowledge of physical literacy, and its application and relevance for persons of all ages and abilities
  • Standard First Aid and CPR 'C' / AED required
  • Current, clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector required
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, of proof of medical or other exemption based on legislative protected ground, required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of MindBody software or similar recreation management software an asset
  • Professional business English skills, verbal and written, and effective presentation skills in a variety of
