We are currently seeking a Corporate Controller that is proactive, driven and collaborative. This role will be primarily responsible for helping establish the financial infrastructure and oversee financial reporting for our parent company and various subsidiaries. They will report directly to the Vice President, Finance of the Seattle Kraken and will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Development and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and checklists.
  • In conjunction with the VP of Finance, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a monthly and annual basis
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and annual tax filings for our parent company
  • Assist the VP of Finance with the annual GAAP audit and timely quarterly financials, as well as various financial reports, for the Kraken Community Iceplex, the Foundation, and our parent entity
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Lead other special projects as requested by leadership.
  • Support and backup other accounting processes.
  • Partner with various teams to provide creative suggestions and proactive solutions to internal and external customer issues and reporting needs.
  • Complete other special projects as requested by leadership.

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience, including experience managing other finance staff
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or similar focus
  • Professional accounting certification – CPA required
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
  • Superior Excel skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly, open to change and enjoy the challenge of unfamiliar tasks
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and ambiguous environment; handle multiple tasks with the ability to reprioritize and shift priorities quickly
  • Written/Oral communications - ability to speak and write clearly and concisely, get messages across that have the desired effect
