 Job Description

The Operations Manager coordinates systems, programs, and functions of daily and event operations at the Schottenstein Center. This position focuses on event planning and coverage; coordinating, scheduling, and tracking costs for various work flow and management systems; and planning and coordinating various projects as assigned. This person also performs audits of in-house and contractor work to direct project and relief teams; works with Director of Operations to make recommendations for recovery projects; and works closely with tenants and clients to resolve various facility issues. Manages and coordinates the preventative maintenance program for relevant Operation’s department equipment. Oversees the hiring of department’s part-time staff. Creates and updates full-time staff calendar to ensure all daily and event related shifts are covered. Assists and supervises various event and non-event crews. Assists in all aspects of event coverage, including pre-event inspections; event crew supervision; and post-event evaluation. Serves as the Lead Ice Technician and Ice Resurface Machine Operator and works with ice technician staff to provide highest quality ice sheet for student athletes. Hires, trains, and schedules all game-day ice crew staff. Coordinates, plans, and executes ice installation and removal. Responsible for managing the ice sheet for all practices, games, and post-conversion recoveries. Sources quotes, helps prepare and manage annual budget for the Operations Department. Prepares reports and manages databases. Serves on committees and planning teams. Subject to emergency call. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

A bachelor's degree in facility management or related field or an equivalent of education/experience; 3-5 years in a major sports/entertainment facility coordinating change overs; knowledge of equipment, tools and practices used in converting facilities to and from various configurations; exp in custodial and building maintenance; knowledge of the common tools and equipment used in carpentry, custodial, and warehouse operations; supervisory exp and proven exp dealing with a wide range of individuals including students; ability to work flexible hours including overnight and weekends and strong interpersonal and team building skills.
