Performance Accountability

  • Create and lead a culture of performance excellence in National Team, Training and Camp activities.
  • Work with Home Coaches of Carded Swimmers to oversee the preparation and updating of Annual Plans & Gap Analyses for National Team Athletes.
  • Initiate the design and delivery of programs that raise the standard of coaching and athletic performance within Swimming Canada.
  • Provide technical insight to NextGEN activities including identification, selection and development.
  • Provide technical advice and support to the ADHP for the management of both the Para Swimming Program and system-wide initiatives.
  • Deliver education, technical and professional development programs, based on the individual needs of coaches and athletes.
    National Team Environment (NTE)
  • Lead, as Head Coach, Team Coaches at designated major international Para Swimming events.
  • Be accountable for the development of schedules, training and Integrated Support (IST) for activities of the National Senior Team.
  • Make recommendations on the selection of coaching and IST staff for all Senior Team events, camps and competitions.
  • Make recommendations on Performance Preparation Camp locations, schedules and timing.
  • Recommend to the ADHP, and lead as required, an innovative calendar of National Team activities that support sustainable success at major international events.
  • Facilitate successful ‘Home Coach to Team Coach’ relationships, communication and post event debriefs.
  • Lead the National Team relay selection process.
    Daily Training Environment (DTE)
  • Ensure the technical direction for the Para Swimming Program is consistently delivered in our High Performance Centre, CHP-Qué.
  • Regularly interact with coaches to monitor and influence the DTE of priority athletes.
  • Design and deliver a Performance Accountability framework for Carded Swimmers to ensure achievement of Performance Goals at major international events
  • Utilizing the expertise of IST, promote the delivery of best practice support services to athletes in the critical areas of sport science, nutrition, performance psychology, sport medicine and strength and conditioning.

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

  • The ability to lead and manage through influence rather than authority.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, leading and managing coaches.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in leading high performance programs.
  • Recognized Coaching certification and experience in coaching elite Paralympic athletes.
  • Knowledge of physical, visual and intellectual impairments and how these impairments relate to athletic function and high-performance sport.
  • Experience in working with volunteer boards and committees.
  • Experience in working with Sport Science and Sport Medicine practitioners.
  • Demonstrated ability to support athletes in preparing yearly individualized athlete training plans.
  • An understanding of sport science related principles and concepts
