The U.S. Ski & Snowboard High Performance Department consists of 25 staff members, ranging from physiologists, dieticians, and sports technologists to physical therapists, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning coaches. These staff serve approximately 180 athletes from across the country as they pursue their dreams of becoming Best in the World. The state-of-the-art training facility includes a full weight room, sport science lab, basketball court, trampolines, a skate park, a nutrition center, and recovery/rehabilitation facilities. The Sports Science Intern will work with mentors on the following projects:
  • Develop and refine Sport Demands Analysis resources which shape the physical requirements needed to be successful at skiing and snowboarding on the world stage
  • Provide Sport Science support including (but not limited to); physiological monitoring of training sessions and camps, warm up/cool downs, research and implementing performance impacting technologies.
  • Work collaboratively within the High Performance department (including Sport Nutrition, Sports Medicine, Sport Psychology, Data & Technology and Sport Coaching staff) to ensure a consistent and integrated approach to performance enhancement, injury prevention and return to snow/competition
  • Refine and conduct athletic development assessments (examples include movement analysis, aerobic/anaerobic fitness, force plate analysis).

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

  • Enrollment or completion of a BS or MS degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • Experience in sport science testing and tech – GPS trackers, Lactate analyzers, VO2 measurements, Gym Aware, Heart Rate Monitors
  • Proficiency with computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • A positive attitude, high level of motivation and work ethic, and the willingness to learn and listen to constructive criticism
  • Must be organized and adaptable, with the ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with athletes and effectively communicate with athletes, coaches, and staff
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED, or the ability to obtain these within 30 days of internship start date. No online-only certifications are accepted.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States at time of application (no international applications are currently being accepted)
