 Job Description

Provide leadership, program design and mental performance coaching to our Latin American Red Sox minor league players based at the Red Sox Academy in the Dominican Republic and the Player Development Complex in Ft. Myers, FL.  Work with the Player Education Coordinator to support player development and acculturation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide personal and professional support for our Latin American players as they enter professional baseball in the DR and transition from the DR to the United States.
  • Assume responsibility for individual and collective baseball specific mental performance enhancement for our DSL and GCL minor leaguers.
  • Collaborate with the Player Education Coordinator to support the growth of all educations programs for Latin American players.
  • Take part in the design and implementation of systems to improve behavioral healthcare within the Red Sox organization, including preventative and rehabilitative programs, specific to Latin American players at the complex and academy levels..
  • Increase complex and academy staff understanding and recognition of behavioral health issues.
  • Assist Director in identifying candidates for clinical counseling and assist in making appropriate and timely referrals.
  • Practice disciplined information tracking for communication of appropriate development goals with coaching and performance staff members to foster consistency of messaging across departments.
  • Make group presentations at Spring Training with other members of the BHP on various topics within the mental skills area.
  • Teach Red Sox character and leadership curriculum, focusing on Spanish speaking players at the complex and academy level.
  • Participate in research and development of new techniques and/or technology impacting the Behavioral Health department.
  • Position based primarily in Ft. Myers, FL with significant travel to Red Sox Academy in Dominican Republic.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Director.

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

  • Master level sport psychology degree.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
  • Coaching or clinical experience in an elite or professional sport environment preferred.
