The Tampa Bay Rays are seeking an individual to contribute to our Minor League Rehabilitation space. They will be involved in all aspects of player rehabilitation, from the date of injury to a healthy return to play. This individual will work in close collaboration with the Minor League Complex Coordinator, amongst an array of many other medical and cross-collaborative professionals. In addition to acute post-injury/post-operative care and long-term injuries, this individual will also contribute to other duties as assigned by the Coordinator or Rays Leadership. The position is open to candidates with both ATC and PT licensure and will be titled accordingly based on our new teammate's expertise.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the treatment, progression, and care of long-term injuries – including surgical cases – according to appropriate post-operative protocols
  • Aid in the design, implementation, and management of return-to-play progression plans alongside the Complex Coordinator
  • Prevent, evaluate, care for, and treat athletic injuries that may occur during the care of a long-term injury
  • Document injuries and progress daily, in accordance with Major League Baseball EMR guidelines and the standards set forth by the Tampa Bay Rays
  • Communicate regularly with strength & conditioning, nutrition, performance science, mental health, mental performance, and any other staff support member that contributes to the health and wellbeing of our athletes
  • Coordinate medical appointments for players as needed, including but not limited to rehab athletes
  • Facilitate any off-site needs for the player’s continued care, and communicate progress to all parties involved
  • Contribute to the administration and maintenance of the athletic training room

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

  • Current Athletic Training or Physical Therapy license, or a combination of the two. Must be willing to become licensed in the state of Florida
  • Minimum of five years in the professional or elite baseball setting, with two years of rehab-specific experience
  • Occasional ability to travel for rehab assignments, medical appointments or surgeries, off-season travel for player checkups
  • Given the year-round nature of rehabs, willingness to relocate to Florida is critical
