The Aberdeen IronBirds, Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, seek a seasonal Technical Director for all IronBirds 2023 home games and occasional non-baseball events. The Technical Director (TD) will play a crucial role in how IronBirds fans experience baseball games whether they are in-person in Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium or watching the IronBirds’ MiLB.tv stream online, by responding quickly to in-game and between-innings action, operating the IronBirds’ 1500 square foot HD video board, and collaborating with other Creative Services roles on gameday and throughout the year. Successful candidates have a passion for production and entertainment, and a drive to gain experience on their way to a career in sports entertainment. This role reports to Director of Creative Services; the role is needed for the 2023 season, including 66 home games between April 6 and September 10 (extending to September 20, if needed for playoffs) and occasional non-baseball events, subject to candidate’s availability.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the TV production switcher for stadium videoboard, in-house feed and MiLB.tv subscribers
  • Communicate with hand-held camera operator
  • Communicate with in-stadium graphics operator
  • Manage videoboard controller for stadium production / in-game action
  • Assist Creative Services Director and other staff to set up, use, and strike any gameday equipment as needed
  • Occasionally operate gameday production equipment including, but not limited to, graphics station, sports bug and audio equipment
  • Occasional opportunities to work at non-gameday events for in-house production including but not limited to video, audio, camera and social media streaming
  • High School Graduations
  • Public IronBirds non-baseball events
  • Private events as necessary and as availability dictates

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

  • 1 year min of Adobe CC Suite software or equivalent software experience preferred
  • 1-2 years experience / training with various video production equipment preferred
  • RenewedVision Propresenter software experience a plus
  • Knowledge of baseball and rules preferred
  • Training will be available
