2023 Baseball Groundskeeper (Seasonal)

The Somerset Patriots, the AA affiliate of the NY Yankees, are hiring seasonal groundskeepers to help with maintaining the playing field and grounds at TD Bank Ballpark.  Prior landscaping or turf experience is preferred but we are willing to train individuals who have a positive attitude, good work ethic, and are willing to learn.  Qualified candidates should be available for an in-person interview at TD Bank Ballpark.  Past crew members have gone onto work for MLB, MLS teams, golf courses, and athletic field complexes.  Applications can be submitted through the link provided or by emailing resume and cover letter to the head groundskeeper through the team's website.

Schedule:  The position is from 3/20-10/27 and applicants must be able to work full time hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays depending on the game schedule.  Non-game day hours are normally M-F 9am-5pm.  Game day hours follow two rotating shifts, 9am-4pm and 4pm-11pm but can change depending on game time and weather conditions.  Off days are scheduled when the team is away and weekends without games or events are off.

Job Description:  Assist with maintaining the playing field and grounds including dragging the infield, repairing pitching mound / HP areas, field painting, mowing, edging, tarp pulls, general landscape maintenance, seeding, aeration, hand watering, sod repair, set up for practice / games / events, post-game field cleanup and other duties as assigned.  Must be willing to work in a variety of weather conditions and able to meet physical demands of the job.

Pay:  $14.13 / hr and averages 40 hrs per week

• Prior grounds experience / education preferred
• Adherence to company handbook and MLB policies
• Must live within reasonable commuting distance (45 min max)
