Job Description
USA Triathlon seeks a business development executive to drive revenue and lead a sales and activation team to successfully deliver and elevate USA Triathlon’s partnership objectives supporting the growth and future of the sport. This sales position will focus on new endemic corporate partnerships, digital and media advertising, and activations at national events while leading a team to new heights in the run up to LA28. USA Triathlon’s business relationships are designed to directly benefit all membership constituency groups, programs and events and this position will help to support these efforts during an exciting time in our Olympic history and history of the sport.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive new endemic corporate partnership revenue, activation, and value with USA Triathlon responsible for meeting annual revenue goals.
- Lead new business meetings and sales negotiations working closely with internal teams on necessary approvals.
- Oversee partnership activation team and elevate the level of service and engagement with existing partners.
- Collaborate on a regular basis with Senior Director Revenue & Growth, an outside sales agency of record and other third-party consultants to realize business development opportunities.
- Manage all sponsorship assets including detailed inventory tracking, ideation and oversight of execution with the activation team.
- Manage expo sales efforts and vendor relationships for USA Triathlon owned events and liaise with local organizing committees as necessary.
- Oversee Business Development budget, track all expenses, collections, and finances.
- Represent USA Triathlon while developing and expanding corporate relationships at select industry trade shows.
- Oversee onboarding strategy for new partners working across all business units and ensuring a seamless transition with strong communications.
- Strategize with other business units to help realize organizational goals through new corporate partnerships.
- Lead VIK strategy and ways partnerships enhance USA Triathlon’s organizational success.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, business, sports administration or a similar field.
- Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in sports industry sales and/or marketing fields.
- Software proficiency should include CRM (e.g., Sales Force), MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint/Prezi and Publisher.
- Willingness to travel and work additional hours as necessary, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a team atmosphere, including effective coordination with members of other departments.
- Strong communication and organizational skills a must.
- Experience within, or knowledge of, the multisport or endurance industries is preferred.
