Job Description
The Communications Coordinator will focus on creating and deploying a successful communications strategy for the 2024 Pan-American Masters Games. This position will be a key piece of the Marketing & Communications team, with primary focus on collaborating with all internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure a stellar experience for athletes participating in the Games. Secondary responsibilities related to other events hosted by Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.
Contract Duration: June 2023 – August 2024
Essential Duties:
- Support communications and marketing efforts by creating content for e-newsletters, website, social media and press releases
- Assist in developing and implementing a communications strategy to meet campaign and event objectives
- Monitor media analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of communications campaigns and strategies
- Stay up to date on industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices
- Respond to media inquiries (as assigned) and maintain relationships with members of the press
- Contribute to the planning of press conferences and other promotional events to help achieve event goals
- Perform outreach to media outlets to pitch content, notify them of events and build brand equity in market
- Assist with on-site activations related to marketing campaigns
- Assist in recruitment and management of temporary event staff and interns
- Assist in recruitment of athletes and volunteers
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required
- Significant internship experience or I-year full time position
- Familiar with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus
- Knowledge of email marketing software such as Mailchimp or similar
- Knowledge and comfortability writing for different audiences – AP style is preferred and writing for SEO a plus
- Experience with writing content and posting to social media, familiarity with Canva a plus
- Familiarity with communications and marketing ethics and best practices
- Comfortability working with media; event experience a plus
