Job Description
FC Cincinnati is seeking a Staff Writer, who will exploit their top-flight writing skills to produce high-level feature stories about the club and its players. This role will collaborate with the Director of Digital Content and larger content team to develop and execute content that aligns with the narrative around the club within the larger digital content strategy. The Staff Writer will have the ability to win the trust of the soccer operations team to bring an inside look to FC Cincinnati fans and position the club’s owned and operated assets as THE SOURCE for all things FCC.
What You'll Do:
- Act as a beat writer by attending matches and trainings to produce content that reveals the personalities of FC Cincinnati players and shines a spotlight on our game
- Stay up to date on MLS news and issues and maintain working relationships with league and club executives and FC Cincinnati players
- Serve as an official source from FC Cincinnati by maintaining a multi-media presence including active use of social media and comfort appearing on video or radio as required
- Contribute as a copywriter for promotional content, as needed
- Collaborate with the larger Comms and Content team to develop engaging content featuring FCC players and personalities to drive interest in the club
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree required in a related field
- 5+ years experience covering MLS for a major newspaper or website
- Fluency in another language spoken in soccer-playing countries is a plus
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide verification of vaccination prior to start date
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours including but not limited to weekends and holidays as required by the FCC game schedule, special events, and projects
- Will be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights
