Fast and Female is a nationwide charity on a mission to empower girls through sport and physical activity! Qualifications Required

KEY GOALS

  • Adolescence is one of the most transitional periods in one’s life, so much is changing and there is a lack of support for this demographic, especially for young women. The Program Coordinator, Youth and Role Model Programming seeks to coordinate youth and role model activities and services for the F&F community.
  • The role of the Program Coordinator, Youth and Role Model Programming is to engage, support and build lasting relationships and trust with youth and our role models across Canada, including providing informal mentorship, skill building and professional development opportunities.
  • In 2021, Fast and Female established a new Fast and Female Youth Advisory Council, supported through funding from the Doc Seaman Amateur Sports Grant. The Fast and Female Youth Council currently engages 10-15 youth ages 15-21 from across Canada, who guide and support Fast and Female programs and events. These programs and events are held in person and virtually for self-identified girls (8-14), Leaders in Training (LIT, 14-18), parents, coaches and sports leaders throughout the year.
  • The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the recruitment and execution of the Fast and Female Youth Advisory Council. The candidate is accountable for supporting all Fast and Female Youth Council meetings, activities and other initiatives across Canada through various roles which include but are not limited to:
    • Developing Youth Council position descriptions, recruitment plan, key goals and initiatives, interviewing potential candidates, overseeing monthly meetings, reporting, database management, working with the social media and communications team, and program development and delivery.
  • The Program Coordinator is responsible for building youth programming opportunities and filling the current gap in our programming structure. This can include but is not limited to LIT Programs, Youth Mentorship Programs, Youth Events, etc.
  • The Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the REAL (Relatable, Empowered, Active Leader) Role Model (RRM) program. The candidate is accountable for supporting all Fast and Female REAL Role Model Advisory Committee meetings, activities and other initiatives across Canada through various roles, which include  but are not limited to:
    • Developing REAL Role Model recruitment plan, key goals and initiatives, yearly Code of Conduct renewal process, onboarding new RRMs, engagement strategies, overseeing advisory committee meetings, reporting, database management, working with the social media and communications team, and program development and delivery.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Youth Programming Engagement, Recruitment and Execution
    • Engaging youth, their communities and their movement backgrounds while identifying and combating issues and barriers to access for today’s youth
    • Build foundations for Fast and Female within communities across Canada; support and attend local community events, go where the youth go; show Fast and Female’s face/ branding at youth events and events run by youth organizations.
    • Connect with and reaffirm existing relationships with youth and youth organizations Fast and Female has previously worked with and that are present within the community.
    • Develop and maintain new relationships with stakeholders, community agencies, sponsors and partners with similar youth-specific, girl-centred needs.
    • Provides key support to the Program Team (Program Manager, Program Coordinators, Communications Team and Contractors) to contribute to the development of the Fast and Female Youth Advisory Council program, including identifying key goals, work back plan and recruitment plan to ensure the safe, fun, and cost-conscious delivery;
    • Create descriptions of Youth Council position(s);
    • Support the Communications team in the recruitment strategy;
    • Interview and select Youth Council candidates, ensuring representation of diverse voices from across Canada as needed;
    • Lead in scheduling and facilitating monthly Youth Council meetings;
    • Act as the primary liaison between Youth Council and youth programming, the core Fast and Female team and related committees to provide recommendations from the Youth Council on Fast and Female programming and other areas of operations;
    • Identifying youth development, training and mentoring needs and supporting virtually (or, when possible, in person) through one-to-one mentorship meetings or in the background during events.
    • Tracking Youth Council meetings, overall outcomes, and action items to report back to and hold the core Fast and Female team accountable.
    • Engage youth through online participation, virtual programming, liaising with the Comms team, monthly YAC features on social media, and youth-specific social media accounts.
  • Youth Programming and Event Development and Delivery
    • Supports with general organizational programming, interest-specific initiatives and programs/events specific for youth;
    • Plans, coordinates, organizes and implements activities intended to capture youth’s attention and interest while fostering their involvement.
    • Facilitates positive connections and promotes awareness between youth and their communities
    • Support and guide the Youth Council, alongside support from the Programs Team, in the development of programs and events for girls and LITs across Canada;
    • Work with the Programs team and Youth Council to deliver programs and events alongside other Youth Council initiatives;
    • Ensure that the Youth Council is actively engaged in decision-making opportunities throughout their terms, including developing tools, training plans, mentorship, programs and other initiatives;
    • Liaison with Inventory Coordinator(s) as needed.
    • Encourages council members to engage in positive civic engagement in their communities through outreach, mini-meet ups and Fast and Female event participation
    • Provide youth-specific and centred programming, including modifying current programming for youth.
  • REAL Role Model Engagement, Recruitment and Execution
    • Engaging the current RRM network and Connecting with and reaffirming existing relationships with RRMs Fast and Female has previously worked with and that are present within the community.
    • Build foundations for Fast and Female within communities across Canada; support and attend local community events,
    • Develop and maintain new relationships with stakeholders, community agencies, sponsors and partners with similar interests.

    • Ensure that the REAL Role Model Advisory Committee is actively engaged in decision-making opportunities throughout their terms, including developing tools, training plans, mentorship, programs and other initiatives;
    • Liaison with Inventory Coordinator(s) as needed;
    • Encourages RRMs to engage in positive civic engagement in their communities through outreach, mini-meet ups and Fast and Female event participation.
    • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the REAL Role Model Portal.
  • Professional & Leadership Development
    • Conduct workshops and networking events for youth and RRMs based on local and current needs within communities across Canada: self-esteem, entrepreneurship, building skills through sport, etc.
    • Provide employment readiness supports and initiatives, i.e., volunteer hours, reference letters, and headshots.
    • Support in the development and implementation of special events, programs and opportunities for youth and RRMs.
    • Quarterly Youth Advisory Council and Youth Network initiatives/ projects
    • Engage youth  and create opportunities for youth to express themselves through Fast and Female’s social media accounts
    • Mentorship and accountability for Youth and RRMs; connecting youth with RRMs
    • Provide opportunities for youth to develop soft and technological skills, resume writing, interviewing, networking and relationship-building
    • Referrals to community agencies and support, i.e., certifications or community supports
  • Project Management and Administration
    • Maintain Youth Council email account;
    • Maintain RRM email account;
    • Provide support in drafting and reporting updates;
    • Budget management;
    • Attend core team and other committee meetings, as necessary;
    • Connect with Fast and Female Board of Directors as necessary;
    • Other ad-hoc administrative support activities as requested.
