Job Description
The Houston Astros seek a Minor League Coach in the Player Development Department. This individual will serve as a uniformed coach and aid in the implementation of player development initiatives in the Dominican Republic. This position could lead to other positions within the organization in the future.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The Minor League Coach, Dominican Academy will be expected to:
- Support defense/baserunning initiatives and help lead on-field instruction at the Dominican Academy.
- Assist academy hitting coaches with daily on-field and off-field daily tasks/instruction.
- Support academy position players in game preparation that include, but are not limited to, early work and game review sessions.
- Assist the field staff with conventional responsibilities of a 4th coach, such as throwing batting practice, hitting fungoes, and coaching first base.
- Assist staff and players with the implementation of systems and technologies.
- Aid in physical and mental preparation of minor league players assigned to the Dominican Academy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required
- Coaching experience.
- Ability to understand and advocate for changes due to new information and or tools in baseball.
- Interest in strength & conditioning and analytics.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Professional or collegiate playing experience is a plus.
- Fluency in Spanish is not required but strongly preferred. If not proficient, willingness to work towards proficiency is required.
- Strength & Conditioning related degree is a plus.
