Position Summary

We are looking for a full-time Manager to play a pivotal role in the financial and operational success of our growing organization. The ideal candidate has strong foundational knowledge in accounting and finance that can be leveraged to build operational excellence across the organization. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations, you will work closely with our external bookkeepers and across the entire organization. You will use best practices to ensure the accounting and finance function runs efficiently and accurately. Using a human-centred approach you will help support and drive operational excellence.

This role is for someone who wants to be part of modernizing and scaling Canadian Women & Sport and has a proven track record of maintaining efficient and well documented processes. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Finance

  • Lead the daily and month-end full accounting cycle with support of our external bookkeepers, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and benefits administration.
  • Oversee and complete monthly year-to-date reports on spending by funder, revenue and reconciliation with sales reports.
  • Work with team members to ensure expenses are appropriately allocated to funders.
  • Complete financial reports for funders with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization on financial analysis, reconciliation, costing, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Adhere to internal financial controls and maintain financial control documentation.
  • Support in the creation of audit and finance committee reports.
  • Support in the creation and update of annual budgets.
  • Initiate and encourage continuing process improvement and automations within the finance function.
  • Remain current on accounting and financial management best practices, internal controls, and accounting and regulatory compliance.
  • Review and submit quarterly HST fillings as prepared by our external bookkeepers.
  • Support and actively participate in the annual audit.

Operations

  • Support and lead operational and logistical functions across the organization such as travel, team and board virtual and in-person meetings, onboarding, and policy implementation (including safe sport).
  • Support process improvements, efficiency, transparency, and reporting and identifying strategies for improvement across the organization.
  • Support in the management and process of vendor procurement, inventory, and optimization of resources.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Work with senior management to align operational strategies with overall business objectives.

People and Relationship Management

  • Oversee the development and growth of the Coordinator, Finance & Operations.
  • Build strong working relationships with key financial contractors and vendors such external bookkeepers, bank managers, and travel agents.

Qualifications Required

Requirements:

  • Completion of CPA designation.
  • Experience in accounts payable/receivables, junior accountant, accounting manager, senior auditor, financial reporting & analysis, or equivalents in non-profit, foundation, or charity organization.
  • Experience in cloud accounting software and integrations (preference for QuickBooks), Dext Prepare, and Wagepoint, or equivalents.
  • Exceptional documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with non-financial or accounting experienced team members.
  • Proven ability to project-manage deliverables cross-functionally to internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to build and implement processes to improve overall effectiveness.

Strong assets:

  • Experience applying an intersectional gender equity lens, including specific understanding of anti-oppression and accessibility principles and their applications.
  • Previous work or volunteer experience in the sport sector.
  • Previous experience in customer service facing roles
  • Experience working with digital tools such as CRMs (Salesforce specifically), Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, Zoom, Airtable, and Submittable or equivalents.
  • Bilingualism (French-English)
