Job Description

Overview of the Position

The Coordinator, Food Services will be responsible for planning and coordinating all food and beverage requirements for the 2025 Canada Games and will work closely with the Games Services Lead of Food Services, Food Service Reps and Games-time support volunteers to plan and implement feeding services safely.

Key Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Assisting with creating a Food Services Plan (for all budgeted client groups) that will identify required feeding programs. Examples of client groups include:

    • Athletes and Coaches

    • Officials

    • Spectators

    • VIPs

    • Volunteers;

  • Coordinating an in-kind Food Services program in collaboration with the Revenue Generation team;

  • Coordinating with the Finance team to select and administer Service Contractors;

  • Supporting the Venue Management Model and Venue Teams to ensure the successful delivery of the Food Services program for the Games;

  • Identifying all volunteer positions required within the Food & Beverage function;

  • Developing policies and procedures to guide the delivery of services during Games-time, including but not limited to venue feeding, food delivery procedures, lounge grazing procedures, late feeding policies, allergy/dietary restriction policies, etc.;

  • Overseeing the training, orientating and guiding Food Venue Team Representatives who will represent Food & Beverage Services on the relevant Venue Teams

  • Being a fully engaged team member with a goal of positive and healthy relationships in the workplace

  • Executing all responsibilities in a manner which is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the St. John’s 2025 Canada Games, and;

  • Fulfilling all other duties as reasonably required.

Education/Experience

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Hospitality and Tourism, Business Administration, Event or Sport management, or other related field

  • Minimum two (2) years of related work and volunteer experience or a combined equivalent of education and work or volunteer experience.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in analyzing, organizing, and communication (oral and written);

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a focus on attention to detail and communication of expectations;

  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with spreadsheets;

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, and oversee multiple projects at the same time;

  • Creative, results-oriented, able to deliver on deadlines and deliverables

  • Experience with Google’s G Suite programs (e.g. Gmail, Docs, Slides, Forms and Calendar, etc.)

  • Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit, events, or multi-sport Games environment

  • Ability to liaise and interact with multiple partners, locally, provincially and nationally.

Other

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

  • Based on position requirements, flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays

Conditions of Employment

  • Office hours are 35-40 hours/week
