Overview of the Position

The Coordinator, Brand & Marketing, is integral in building local, provincial, and national awareness and engagement of the 2025 Canada Games and the Canada Games movement. Working closely with the Manager, Brand and Marketing, the Coordinator is responsible for supporting the creation and development of communications strategies and plans related to brand, marketing, community relations, and overall profile building of the 2025 Canada Games.

Key Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Assisting in brainstorming, developing, coordinating, and fulfilling the marketing strategy in line with the strategic goals and objectives of the Host Society;

  • Supporting the coordination and execution of the marketing strategy and plans Pre-Games and Games time, including (but not limited to) community relations, volunteer program, merchandising, ticketing, festival and events program, educational program,  mascot program and torch relay;

  • Adhering to brand guidelines and corporate identity, ensuring brand essence is uncompromised and consistent through all internal and external channels;

  • Collaborating with internal staff, external creative agency of record, internal stakeholders, and media partners to ensure that appropriate messaging, branding and look-and-feel are delivered to market;

  • Drafting and reviewing creative briefing documents for/from the Agency of Record;

  • Drafting and managing timelines and budgets for assigned brand and marketing projects;

  • Collaborating and effectively communicating with other functional areas to manage brand reputation;

  • Assisting in the execution of a social and digital strategy, including contests, promotions, and online updates;

  • Assisting with the updating of the 2025 Canada Games website and other digital properties as needed;

  • Being a fully engaged team member with a goal of positive and healthy relationships in the workplace

  • Executing all responsibilities in a manner which is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the St. John’s 2025 Canada Games, and;

  • Fulfilling all other duties as reasonably required.

Qualifications Required

Education/Experience

  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Sport Management, or related field;

  • Minimum three (3) years of related work experience or a combined equivalent of education and work experience.

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;

  • Experience managing and/or tracking budgets;

  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to review and proof visual assets to ensure brand consistency;

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners;

  • Demonstrated knowledge in multiple social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok) with a finger on the pulse of emerging trends and technologies;

  • Creative, results-oriented, able to deliver on time and on budget

  • Experience with Google’s G Suite programs (e.g. Gmail, Docs, Slides, Forms and Calendar, etc.)

  • Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit, events, or multi-sport Games environment

  • Ability to liaise and interact with multiple partners, locally, provincially and nationally.

Other

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

  • Based on position requirements, flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays

Conditions of Employment

  • Office hours are 35-40 hours/week

  • All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application

  • RNC Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check are required for all positions

  • Credential Checks may be required for specified positions
