Job Description
The University of Ottawa is the largest bilingual (English-French) university in the world. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Student Affairs, the Senior Director, Recreation and Varsity Sport (RVS) provides strategic leadership and direction in the delivery of a high-performance sports program (Gee-Gees Varsity Programs) and modern recreational programming to meet the needs of the entire uOttawa community. The Senior Director RVS develops and implements annual and multi-year strategic plans that align with the university’s strategic objectives, oversees capital development and maintenance of sports facility infrastructure, and implements business development strategies and initiatives to increase revenue generation, ensuring the sector’s financial stability and viability. The Senior Director RVS is a natural leader and relationship-builder who regularly engages with the broader uOttawa community, including students, to build an atmosphere that values equity, diversity, and inclusivity and enhances community well-being and academic achievement.

Qualifications Required
As the ideal candidate, you exude a genuine passion for high performance sports and recreation and are described as a solutions-oriented and influential leader, with an entrepreneurial spirit. You are recognized for your engaged, and collaborative leadership style, active listening skills, and ability to work with and manage various groups of internal and external stakeholders. You are a credible sector advocate and strategic thinker who can identify opportunities, inspire action, and achieve outcomes in a collegial yet fast-paced environment. You are adept at leveraging sponsorship, grants, fundraising, community programs, and facility use to ensure financial stability and developing data-driven strategic plans and initiatives that meet organizational needs and promote the advancement of recreation and sport in our society. You are a fervent supporter of the benefits of a diverse and inclusive environment and will be a champion of the University’s safe sport programs and policies.
