Job Description
The Head Athletic Trainer will report directly to the Technical Director and work collaboratively with the Director of Performance and Team Physician.
Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinates and delivers athletic training and sports medicine services for all players and technical staff
- Performs assessments and provides thorough care for athletic injuries
- Coordinates rehabilitation with the Team Physician and Director of Performance
- Communicates directly with the Head Coach and the coaching staff as it relates to the injuries and illnesses of the players
- Oversees the assistant athletic trainer in their performance of athletic and sports medicine services
- Designs therapeutic intervention and establishes individual exercise programs for specific conditions
- Prepares athletes for trainings and games, applies taping, special padding and bracing techniques
- Assists in maintaining athletic training facilities and inventory of equipment and supplies
- Participates in meetings and provides reporting, as needed, to the HC on players health and fitness
- Handles treatment scheduling, oversees medical records, maintains/updates rehabilitation progress reports, and reports injuries to the Team Physician and Director of Performance
- Initiates injury documentation by completing the first report, Workers Compensation forms when required, and assists with follow-up of Worker’s Compensation claims and claim management when necessary.
- Is accessible and flexible in facilitating care for athletes all-day every day, including those not present with the team.
- Attends all team-related activities, including travel to all matches.
Qualifications Required
- Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical effort required for practice/game preparation and positioning athletes body during emergency care, management, and rehabilitation
- Experience working with high-level professional athletes (preferred)
- Experience working within a soccer environment and understanding of typical soccer-related injuries (Preferred but not necessary)
- Openness to multi-disciplinary approaches to rehab, recovery, and performance
Knowledge and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Athletic training or related field
- Must be eligible for licensure in California
- Possess state licensure as a certified Athletic trainer (essential)
- A minimum of 5 years of athletic training experience (essential)
- Familiar with FRS, FRC, FRA thought process/practices (preferred )
- CSCS or equivalent overlap (preferred)
