The Head Athletic Trainer will manage the day-to-day sports medicine operations for Miami FC.  In this capacity, the Head Athletic Trainer will provide injury prevention strategies, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for players’ medical problems while keeping accurate records.  The performance of duties will be under the direction and supervision of the designated Baptist Health Team Physician(s). The Head Athletic Trainer will work closely with the Head Coach and any auxiliary medical staff.  The Athletic Trainer will attend all first-team trainings, scrimmages and home and away games.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
As Head Athletic Trainer:
  • Performs as Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the physical health care of players.  Health care included but is not limited to: first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, developing rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals.
  • Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for player/ athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete
  • Assist in the engagement, development, and management of the Miami FC training staff, including, if and as applicable student athletic trainers.
  • Comply with OSHA standards regarding blood borne pathogens
  • Order, maintain and inventory supplies and clinical equipment
  • Keep training room and clinic area safe, clean and organized
  • Maintain a complete and up to date roster of player health and participation records in the League-provided electronic medical record system
  • Electronically document first report of injury, player treatments, and return to play dates for various purposes
  • Establish and maintain positive training room culture.
  • Compile reports as required by USL
  • Provide medical assistance to the Team Physician
  • Under the direction of the supervising Physician, assist the organization and maintenance of pharmaceutical inventory and records

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum four (4) year college/university Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or health-related field
    Master’s Degree in related health care field
    Minimum six (6) years certified athletic trainer experience in a sports environment, preferably with professional soccer or other professional team sports
  • Must be able to anticipate and identify problems, their sources, and their potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption; solutions-based mindset
  • Ability to multi-task, meet tight timelines, and work effectively in a high pressure and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential information
