Job Description

Volleyball Canada (VC) is a not-for-profit organization that provides leadership and oversees the development of volleyball in Canada. During peak periods, the office is a fast-paced environment where multiple projects with varying deadlines/timelines must be completed simultaneously.

This position will provide support and assistance in a variety of areas to help ensure the success of our Indoor Women’s National team program. A strong set of communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as a positive attitude and outgoing personality are a definite asset. Work hours are flexible; however occasional evening and weekend work will be required. Work is to be completed independently with general supervision. This position reports directly to the Women’s Indoor National Team Coordinator.

This position will require keen, and consistent attention to the women’s indoor NextGen/Senior team athletes and staff (emphasis on NextGen). Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

NextGen/Senior Program Startup & Support:

  • Lead scheduling consultant for all Student Athletic Therapists – ensure all student volunteers are qualified and screened according to Volleyball Canada standards.
  • Assist with the startup of the Next Gen/Senior team program including athlete communication, form collection and monitoring, gear distribution etc.
  • Responsible for the disbursement and accurate inventory of all required team equipment (ex. uniforms, shoes, track suit, training clothes, balls, TV’s, ball cart etc.) 

Athlete Support Service Liaison

  • Support with the coordination of all required modules and e-learnings, including keeping up to date records of completion.
  • Point of contact for on-site, day-to-day inquiries by athletes & staff 

Tour / Event Support

  • Provide support for all travel arrangements for domestic & international tours.
  • Assist with preparation of team documentation, and tour packing.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation required for each competition is completed and collected/filed as per deadlines. 

Intersquad Games– Event Coordination

  • Ensuring courts and amenities are accessible/available.
  • Ensure all external event components are in place in a timely manner: referees, DJ, game & spectator setup.
  • Communicate with local supports (PVS) to assist in event/game promotion and execution.

Qualifications Required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a pleasant and professional manner both verbally and in writing with staff, athletes, volunteers, suppliers and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment in a fast-paced environment with many conflicting priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to show leadership to build and maintain excellent working relationships.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn on the job and take initiative.
  • Event experience in a sport setting either as a participant or volunteer would be considered an asset.
  • Preference given to students fulfilling academic obligations.
