This position will be located in the COC office in Montreal, QC, at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West. We offer a hybrid work model that allows for up to three days of remote work each week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES 

Games Management Team

  • As a member of the Games management team, the incumbent supports the Senior Director, Games in steering the direction of the Games department, working collaboratively on department objectives, and to advance Games planning.

Games Planning and Operations Leadership

  • For assigned Games, lead the implementation and communication of the COC Games plan to create world-class performance environments in the lead-up to and during Games including leading all operational aspects of plan delivery
  • Establish and foster relationships with the local Organizing Committee (OCOG), external contractors and local service providers in line with our best-in-class NOC objective
  • Working in collaboration with Own the Podium’s High performance Advisers, understand the needs of National Sport Organizations
  • Create, understand, review and monitor Games planning budgets for upcoming Games
  • Liaise with all COC functional areas and the Business Team Lead to develop logistics-focused operational plans that support key Games deliverables within each business area and across all operational venues
  • Oversee the Olympic Village allocation and space planning process for the Olympic Village (Functional Area (FA) operational space designation, décor, etc.) and associated interactions with FA Leads and OCOG contacts
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director, Games, People and Culture, Business team lead and Canadian sport system stakeholders (NSOs, COPSINs) manage the Mission Team selection process, monitor ongoing changes and communicate them to relevant parties (Sport Services, FA Leads)
  • Oversee all Games logistics programs for National Sport Organizations and COC functional areas
  • Identify and escalate issues in a timely manner to Senior Director, Games to ensure quick resolution
  • When not overseeing the planning and implementation for the immediate Games, the Manager, Games will support and lead specific projects for the upcoming Games while continuing their responsibilities in their assigned upcoming Games
  • Advise as needed in functional area’s early project development and roll-out and provide coaching and insight to staff throughout the project delivery (in consultation with the Senior Manager, Sport Performance Integration
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director, Games provide leadership for the debriefing and evaluation process of Games planning and execution
  • Ensure continual improvement by applying key learnings throughout all phases and elements of game operations
  • Support the ongoing development of the Games Management system

Qualifications Required

  • Knowledge of the Canadian Sport System, International Sport System, Olympic, Youth and/or Pan Am Games operations
  • Strong strategic and operational skills (planning, implementation and execution)
  • Strong leadership capabilities through effective management and guidance in previous roles
  • Proficient in handling and prioritizing multiple responsibilities concurrently
  • Proven capability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder teams
  • Demonstrated people management skills; experience managing a group of volunteers, an asset
  • Proficient in financial planning and budgetary control, demonstrating effective management of resources to achieve fiscal objectives.
