Job Description

The Building Technician II with Mechanical skills serves in a vehicle & building maintenance position, performing work tasks repairing, servicing and maintaining various company vehicles and equipment, plus repairing, servicing and maintaining commercial building equipment. This would include, but is not limited to performing minor repairs, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to various Company vehicles and equipment, plus repairs and preventive maintenance to HVAC Systems, Lighting & Electrical Systems, F&B Equipment and Plumbing Systems along with all other types of building related equipment & systems. All repairs and maintenance work performed by this position would be in compliance with all current Building codes, and all your work must be performed in a professional manner with a technical competence. The successful candidate must be willing to work a flexible work schedule with a minimum of 40 hours per week. This includes being able to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts as dictated by Arena events and scheduled by the Director of Engineering and Assistant Chief Engineer. This position will be working in a Multipurpose Arena and adjacent Parking facilities, providing a safe, well-maintained building environment for Arena staff clients and patrons.

Essential Job Functions- Include, but are not limited to the following:
  • The primary duty of the Building Technician II with Mechanical skills would be to perform general repairs, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on all Arena & Parking Vehicles and Equipment. This would include, but is not limited to, Utility Vehicles, Golf Carts, Pickups, Shuttle Buses, Forklifts, Boom Lifts and various other Equipment. The successful candidate would have verifiable vehicle mechanical maintenance skills and capabilities.
  • Prefer to have general building maintenance skills and mechanical abilities that can perform repairs and maintenance requests throughout all buildings and property on plumbing, electrical, interior & exterior building lighting systems, doors and door hardware and other various building related systems and equipment.
  • Able to maintain, repair, replace and/or upgrade various building equipment and systems throughout the Arena and adjacent parking facilities. This is to ensure the smooth daily operation of the Arena and the satisfaction of our client/guests attending all Arena events under the direction of the Director of Engineering & Assistant Chief Engineer.
  • Prefer to have experience in the operation, repairing and preventative maintenance of various types of commercial HVAC equipment. This includes but is not limited to water cooled chillers, cooling towers, large boiler systems and other associated HVAC equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to work on building equipment in confined spaces and in “high” areas of the buildings utilizing High Lift equipment, scaffolding, swing stages, ladders, etc., while using the appropriate PPE gear. The high areas could include, but are not limited to roof areas, ceilings up to 65’ high and catwalks suspended 160’ from the arena floor.
  • Assist with the required monthly, quarterly, and annual testing of building systems, which include, but is not limited to emergency backup generators, exterior water fountain equipment and fire protection systems. This would include fire alarm systems, fire pumps and fire sprinkler systems.
  • Must be willing to work in outdoor elements, during all months of the year, on building related items, including but not limited to, exterior lighting & electrical repairs, street light poles, street bollard repairs, along with snow & ice removal as required.
  • Assist in properly maintaining all Engineering maintenance equipment and tools in a professional manner, and making sure all work areas are kept clean and organized, to promote a safe working environment.
  • Assist with maintaining inventory control of all the Engineering department equipment, tools, repair parts and supplies.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum high school graduate or GED required.
  • Must have minimum of 3+ years of verifiable vehicle mechanical maintenance skills and capabilities.
  • Preferred to have a minimum of 2+ years of experience in commercial facility maintenance.
  • A trade school graduate with specialized training in vehicle/equipment repairs and/or building related field, which could include HVAC, Electrical or equivalent work experience.
  • Other engineering or maintenance certifications are desirable, i.e. ASE Certifications, HVAC, Refrigeration or Plumbing
  • Experience and/or training in the public assembly facility management industry preferred.
  • Knowledgeable with all applicable laws, codes, ordinances, safety precautions, and emergency procedures related to facility management preferred.
