Job Description

The organization is seeking a motivated and hard-working Director, Marketing who will be responsible for the oversight, management, and accountability of the Marketing department, including full-time, contract, seasonal staff, and interns. This role will work to support the initiatives of the Wichita Wind Surge through brand development, awareness to drive ticket sales, and fan engagement during Wind Surge games. Additionally, the Director, Marketing will be responsible for synergy across marketing platforms including but not limited to print, broadcast, digital media, radio, game program, and in- game entertainment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
  • Complete oversight of the Marketing department including budget management, development of team members, organizational strategies;
  • Develop and implement a 12-month marketing plan to ensure the goals of the organization are met;
  • Creation and oversight of budget for Marketing department
  • Implement a grass roots marketing strategy that utilizes all available resources including digital and email initiatives
  • Utilize data-driven results to make informed marketing decisions and adjustments to campaigns, ensuring optimal results;
  • Develop strategy to increase revenue in areas such as online and single game ticket sales, special events, online team store, and Wind Surge Foundation fundraising;
  • Oversee the game presentation to provide a first-class fan experience that also fulfills the marketing and partnership objectives of the team;
  • Drive the collaboration with all departments to create insightful and consistent strategies to achieve their specific goals;
  • Represent the Marketing department in Department Head Meetings and All Staff meetings;
  • Recruit, train, manage, and lead direct reports including execution of one-on-one meetings with each team member;
  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment that encourages innovation and teamwork;
  • Ultimate oversight of all external marketing relationships;
  • Create marketing strategies for all non-baseball events as required;
  • Develop and maintain media relationships for the creating of earned media opportunities;
  • Model and enforce the Team Operating Principles;
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, four year college or university required
  • Minimum of three (3) years full-time experience in sports, entertainment, advertising, media, marketing, or related field in the sports industry required
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite and Microsoft Suite programs
  • Experience with Qualtrics, Fan Compass, Vozzi, StellarAlgo a plus
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays as necessary
