Job Description
The Assistant, People and Culture will support various human resources initiatives in the staff and volunteer onboarding and provide day-to-day support for various administrative initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Supporting various elements of the Human Resources (HR) lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, retention and outplacement of staff;
- Assisting in the development and delivery of various HR initiatives, including employee orientation, training, development, and engagement;
- Contributing to the ongoing review and maintenance of HR and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures, ensuring they adhere to legislative requirements;
- Compiling and maintaining HR and employee files;
- Providing administrative support, as needed, to members of the People, Finance, and Administration Teams;
- Being a fully engaged team member with a goal of positive and healthy rapports in the workplace
- Executing all responsibilities in a manner which is in line with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the St. John’s 2025 Canada Games, and;
- Fulfilling all other duties as reasonably required.

Qualifications Required
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Business Administration or another related field;
- Minimum two (2) years of related work experience or a combined equivalent of education and work experience.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of human rights, employment, and health and safety legislation;
- Creative, results-oriented, able to deliver on deadlines and deliverables
- Experience with Google’s G Suite programs (e.g. Gmail, Docs, Slides, Forms and Calendar, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit, events, or multi-sport Games environment.
