Volleyball Canada (VC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to leading and developing volleyball across Canada. Operating within a dynamic and fast-paced office environment, we manage multiple projects with varying deadlines concurrently. This role is pivotal in supporting the success of our Indoor Men’s National Team programs and regional events. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, coupled with a positive attitude and an outgoing personality. Flexibility is required, including occasional evening and weekend work. Reporting directly to the Men’s National Team Coordinator, the role involves independent work with general supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Indoor National Team Support:

  • Facilitate pre-arrival preparations for training camps, including program plans, athlete communications, and logistical arrangements.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with athletes and support staff regarding training, competition, and team events.
  • Provide assistance to athletes with various needs and issues as they arise.

Tour and Event Coordination:

  • Coordinate travel arrangements for domestic and international tours.
  • Support the Organizing Committee for international competitions held in Canada, including team services, accommodation, meals, and transportation.
  • Ensure timely completion of all necessary documentation for competitions, such as O2 forms, O2bis forms, registration fee payments, M3 and L1 forms, etc.

Friendly Matches – Gatineau (May 11, May 31, and June 1, 2024):

  • Assist with event logistics, including ticketing booths, volunteer coordination, and last-minute on-site requirements.

2024 Volleyball Nations League – Ottawa (June 2 to 10, 2024):

  • Manage event logistics related to team services, including accommodation and training schedules.
  • Support the production of accreditations for participants.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Men’s National Team Programs.

Qualifications Required

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a pleasant and professional manner both verbally and in writing with staff, athletes, volunteers, suppliers and the general public

• Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment in a fast-paced environment with many conflicting priorities

• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet strict deadlines

• Ability to show leadership to build and maintain excellent working relationships

• Bilingualism (French/English)

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn on the job and take initiative

• Event experience in a sport setting either as a participant or volunteer would be considered an asset

• Knowledge of the sport of volleyball would be considered an asset

• Valid driver’s license required

• Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office

• Preference given to students fulfilling academic obligations
