Job Description
The Marketing Assistant will contribute towards the successful operation of the marketing and communications unit by supporting game day marketing, communications, sponsorship activations, and logistical planning and support. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the unit’s
goal of becoming the undisputed leader in marketing for Canadian university athletics and the department’s vision of making a tangible difference through shared experiences in participation, play, and performance.
This is a four-month full-time temporary role. Start date is negotiable between August 12-26, 2024.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Digital Content
- Oversee scheduling of webcast crews for varsity home events, liaising
with third-party companies and contracted support staff. - Contribute to the creative strategy of Queen’s Gaels digital content
portfolio including webcast, social media, print and out-of-home-media. - Support coverage of Queen’s Gaels teams on social media before, during and after their
games with engaging content. - Track digital content and social platforms analytical presences for the
purpose of improving search optimization.
Communications
- Write game recaps and promotional and human-interest feature stories.
- Assist in the coordination and supervision of media availability and interviews.
- Assist with management of Athletics & Recreation website (written content, statistical entry, photo sharing, etc.).
- Assist in production and development of publications – game day inserts, programs, media notes and guides.

Qualifications Required
- Minimum three-year college diploma in Business, Sport Management, Sport Media or related field. A University degree and/or marketing experience are considered assets. Current students in progress will be considered.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector screening required.
- Knowledge of Canadian University and amateur sport, considered an asset.
