 Job Description

Essential Duties:

Wednesdays and Fridays 3:30-8pm, Saturdays 8:30-1:00. When Covid social distancing restrictions are lifted, opportunity for full-time employment. We are looking to hire someone who has the flexibility and desire to cover other trainers shifts in the event of vacation or illness.

General Strength and Conditioning

  • Provide proper advice regarding fitness, nutrition and wellness
  • Prepare and continually develop exercise programs specific to client goals, mostly working off of established Performance Institute protocols.
  • Encourage and motivate clients to incrementally achieve health and fitness goals with a long-term view.
  • Follow all Covid related safety and health protocols and ensure adherence of the same in clients
  • Use state of the art equipment, protocols and tools to support clients e.g. dedicated functional space for Personal Trainers, MindBody club management system, TrueCoach etc.
  • Act as a role model to foster positive team relations and support team in achieving club objectives and targets.
  • Demonstrate and monitor safe exercises and monitor equipment use.
  • Work with clients of all ages and walks of life
  • Successfully conduct assessments, personal training, active rehabilitation sessions, group training, bootcamp, team training and skating treadmill sessions
  • Be adaptable and perform Zoom Group training sessions should Covid restrictions limit in person training

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required


Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics or Sport Science related discipline 2 years of Experience training a variety of clientele
  • Current CPR/first aid
  • Liability insurance

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be clear and convincing when communicating goals, information and expectations to people
  • Ability to plan and achieve long-and-short term goals
  • Ability to coach, identify and correct movement inefficiencies and apply appropriate developmental tool for each individual
  • Knowledge of proper English spelling, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
  • Skill in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Skill in communicating effectively in both speech and writing
  • Basic computer skills, such as browser navigation, software interaction and data entry with minimal errors.
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite
  • Ability to handle complex or stressful situations with professional composure.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Assets for the Job

Marketing experience

  • Personal experience as an athlete
  • Special skills – i.e. ability to teach Olympic lifting, Yoga, Spinning etc.
  • BCAK Membership
  • CSCS
  • Hockey Experience
  • Experience teaching running mechanics
  • Experience presenting
  • Business Administration Certificate or similar equivalent
