Overview:

The Prince Edward Island 2023 Canada Games Host Society is looking to fill the position of Coordinator, Digital & Social Content.

In less than three years, the eyes of the nation will be on Prince Edward Island as we host the 2023 Canada Winter Games. Featuring over 150 events in 22 sports and a major cultural festival, the 2023 Canada Games will welcome over 3,600 athletes, as we celebrate and inspire the best of the next generation of Canadian athletes. The 29th edition of the Games will be the largest multi-sport and cultural event for youth in Canada and the largest event to be hosted in Prince Edward Island’s history.

Key Responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Coordinating the planning, optimization, and execution of a social media strategy, including:

    • Contributing to the development of social media content calendars;

    • Ongoing written and visual content strategizing, drafting, and publishing for social media; Coordinating and overseeing paid digital campaigns; Live event coverage

    • Collaborating with partners and stakeholders to effectively build brand advocacy;

    • Ongoing monitoring and engagement with social audiences;

    • Monthly analysis and reporting of performance metrics and valuable insights.

  • Designing and deploying regular email communications through MailChimp

  • Oversee photography and videography initiatives; Manage visual content databases

  • Being a fully engaged team member with a goal of positive and healthy relationships in the workplace

  • Executing all responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Prince Edward Island 2023 Canada Winter Games

  • Other duties as reasonably required. Due to the nature of our organization, and especially during the time leading up to, and during the actual Games, all staff will be required to act in capacities beyond their formal job description. These will always be reasonable, however, the expectation is that staff will step up in ways that may not normally be expected of them.

Qualifications RequiredQualifications Required

  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Sport Management, or related field

  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience, or a combined equivalent of education and work experience

  • Exceptional copywriting and editing skills with a basic knowledge of web publishing

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and provide exceptional client service to internal and external stakeholders

  • Expertise in multiple social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) with a finger on the pulse of emerging trends and technologies

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Google Workspace programs (e.g. Gmail, Docs, Slides, Calendar, etc.) is an asset

  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, team environment where duties and reporting levels are shared

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a focus on attention to detail

  • Energetic self-starter; takes initiative and can work with minimum direction and supervision

  • Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit, events, sports and entertainment, or multi-sport Games environment is an asset

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly dynamic and deeply collaborative environment, moving seamlessly between many simultaneous and concurrent tasks, operations, and requests

  • Flexible and strong team orientation and management style, i.e., a highly developed ‘collaboration gene’

  • A creative, innovative bent, with an innate ability to see the glass as perpetually half-full, always looking for the opportunity behind the challenge

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset

  • Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • May be subject to a criminal record check and/or other background checks

  • Working conditions: sitting, using a computer, and repetitive motions over extended periods of time

  • Physical demands may include: lifting up to 30 lbs, working outdoors
